Agora Partners and ASG Real Estate are underway on the conversion of an 80-year old factory and warehouse into a workspace for emerging bioscience and tech companies.
Over the past decade, Los Angeles’ bioscience presence has expanded (Read the latest BIO & TEConomy report here). Bio-related incubators, offering the resources and space for startups to grow, have increased in LA with incubators formed by local educational institutions (USC, UCLA, Cal State-LA, and Cal Poly Pomona), nonprofits (La Kretz Innovation Campus, LabLaunch, and Pasadena Incubator Collaborative), and other private companies (Ventura Biocenter and BATTS Bioincubator). However, as noted by the LA Bioscience Hub (LABH), LA lacks options once companies outgrow the startup phase, resulting in companies leaving for other California science and tech communities.
Therefore, we are launching the soon-to-be bioscience workspace: HATCH.
Welcome to HATCH
The idea behind HATCH emerged from the mission of the Los Angeles Bioscience Hub—to promote the resources needed for startups and early-stage companies to stay in LA. The space will provide multi-tenant office space, conference rooms, shared amenities, and parking to create the work and community environment for these smaller companies to "hatch."
To create the right type of environment—conducive to bioscience as well as office space needs—we are excited to work with architect Brian Spence from BAM Studio. BAM Studio brings a range of experience designing modern, flexible bioscience workspaces across scales and types to provide the right fit for HATCH.
